Custom Color ACP Panels for RAL, Pantone & Physical-Sample Matching

Build a custom color ACP panel around the color reference your project actually uses. DERACP can review custom RAL ACP, a Pantone color aluminum composite panel, or a color matching ACP sheet based on an approved physical reference—then coordinate the coating, gloss, panel thickness, aluminum skins, core, dimensions, protective film and export packing in the same specification.

Quick answer

Can ACP panels be made in a custom project color?

Yes. Custom color ACP panels can be developed from a RAL code, Pantone reference or identified physical sample, subject to coating and production feasibility. For appearance-sensitive work, the useful approval standard is an actual coated ACP sample with the finish, gloss and panel specification recorded—not a screenshot alone.

Why this page is different

A Custom ACP Color Is a Manufacturing Specification, Not a Paint Name

A code identifies a color direction. It does not, by itself, define how that color will look on coated aluminum. Gloss, coating chemistry, metallic particles, substrate, lighting and panel orientation can change the visual result. A better purchasing process locks the color together with the panel build and approval method.

01

Color reference

Use a RAL code, Pantone reference, architectural finish code, coated-metal chip, existing panel or other clearly identified target.

02

Surface definition

Record solid or metallic character, matte or gloss direction, coating system and any directional effect before sample approval.

03

Production reference

Approve a physical sample and keep the sample identity tied to the PO, QC record and future repeat-order discussion.

Three matching routes

Choose the Right Reference for Custom Color ACP Panels

RAL, Pantone and physical samples solve different specification problems. The best starting point depends on whether the project is driven by architecture, brand identity, a replacement façade or an existing material sample.

ARCHITECTURAL COLOR SYSTEM

Custom RAL ACP

RAL references are a practical starting language for façades, commercial buildings, wayfinding and industrial projects. Specify the code together with gloss, solid/metallic direction and the intended coating.

BRAND & GRAPHIC COLOR

Pantone Color Aluminum Composite Panel

Pantone references are useful when a retail, hospitality, fuel-station or corporate program needs the ACP surface to coordinate with a brand palette. The coated ACP sample—not the printed swatch—should become the final visual reference.

REPLACEMENT & PROJECT-SPECIFIC MATCH

Physical-Sample Color Matching

Use an identified existing panel, coated metal chip or approved sample when no standard code describes the target closely enough. Note aging, gloss and exposure history if the sample comes from an existing façade.

Reference route Best fit What to send What still needs approval
RAL Architecture, façade schedules, industrial color standards RAL code + finish + gloss + coating + application Actual coated sample and agreed visual acceptance
Pantone Brand identity, retail chains, signage and commercial rollouts Pantone reference + brand context + surface/gloss expectation Translation from graphic color to coated aluminum appearance
Physical sample Existing-building replacement, bespoke interiors, legacy colors Clean identified sample + source/use information + desired gloss Whether the target is original color or aged in-service appearance
Color engineering priorities

Five Variables That Can Change How the “Same” Color Looks

Buyers often focus on the code and miss the variables that affect real coated-metal appearance. Recording these points early makes sample approval, incoming inspection and repeat ordering much clearer.

Gloss level

A matte surface and a high-gloss surface can read as different colors even when the nominal hue is similar.

PE vs PVDF coating

Different coating systems are selected for different exposure conditions and can influence appearance, sheen and long-term weathering behavior.

Metallic orientation

Metallic and mica effects vary with viewing angle. Panel direction should be controlled during fabrication and installation.

Lighting conditions

Warm retail lighting, cool daylight and strong façade reflections can shift the perceived tone of the approved sample.

Reference medium

A printed Pantone swatch, monitor display and coil-coated aluminum are different materials. Use each for the right stage of selection.

Batch & reorder context

For phased projects, retain the approved reference and prior order details so a future production discussion starts from traceable information.

Sample approval workflow

From “Match This Color” to a Repeatable ACP Order Record

A documented color workflow reduces ambiguity between the design team, buyer, factory and installer. DERACP can review the color together with the complete panel construction before production is released.

1

Define the end use

Façade, signage, retail interior, ceiling, OEM stock or another application.

2

Send the reference

RAL, Pantone, physical chip, coated panel, project code or retained sample.

3

Lock the panel build

Thickness, skins, core, coating, size, visible side, film and quantity per color.

4

Approve a physical sample

Review the real coated surface under suitable lighting and record the sample identity.

5

Release & retain records

Keep the approved reference linked to production, QC, packing and future reorder information.

RFQ-ready specification

Custom Color ACP Sheet Specifications Buyers Should Confirm Together

Color is only one line in the purchase specification. A useful quotation states the surface requirement and the structural panel build in the same place so suppliers are compared on a like-for-like basis.

Specification item Project direction What the buyer should state
Color reference RAL, Pantone, project code or physical sample Exact reference, sample identity and whether a close commercial match or tighter project-specific control is required.
Finish & gloss Solid, matte, gloss, metallic or other agreed surface Visual direction, gloss expectation, metallic orientation and visible side.
Coating PE, PVDF or another project-reviewed coating system Interior/exterior exposure, UV, climate, pollution, coastal conditions, cleaning and expected project life.
Total panel thickness Common project discussions include 3 mm, 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm Finished rigidity, fabrication route, support spacing and drawing requirement.
Aluminum skins Project-selected face and back aluminum thickness State both skins separately. Do not infer aluminum gauge from total ACP thickness.
Core PE or mineral-filled fire-retardant options, subject to order and document requirements Required classification, test method, destination rules and exact document applicability.
Sheet size 1220 × 2440 mm is a common reference; project sizes can be reviewed Width × length, tolerance, quantity by color, nesting yield, pallet limits and unloading method.
Protective film Standard or project-branded film options can be discussed Adhesion, logo/artwork, peel direction, storage and fabrication process.
Packing & identification Export packing planned around sheet size and color split Pallet labels, mixed-color policy, edge/corner protection, destination and handling constraints.

Note: final dimensions, tolerances, minimum quantities, coating details, test documentation and color acceptance criteria are order-specific and should be confirmed in the quotation and approved production documents.

PE or PVDF?

Choose the Coating by Exposure Before You Approve the Color

A brand red for an indoor kiosk and the same nominal red on a sun-exposed façade are not the same coating decision. Match the surface system to the installation environment first, then approve the custom color on that intended coating direction.

Controlled interiors & economical signage: PE is commonly considered where long-term severe exterior exposure is not the design driver.
Exterior façade & demanding weather: PVDF is commonly reviewed where UV, rain, pollution and color-retention requirements are more demanding.
Dark or saturated brand colors: discuss solar exposure, gloss and coating expectations before sample sign-off.
Metallic colors: record orientation and panel direction because light reflection changes with viewing angle.

Application-based selection

Where Custom Color ACP Panels Create the Most Practical Value

Custom color makes the most sense when it solves a design-control, brand-consistency, replacement or SKU-planning problem. The use case should determine the coating, panel construction, approval method and repeat-order plan.

Architectural Façades & Cladding

Use custom RAL ACP for project palettes, corporate buildings, soffits, canopies and façade accents. Coordinate color with exterior coating, core requirement, skin gauge, joint rhythm and metallic direction.

Retail Chains & Brand Rollouts

A Pantone color aluminum composite panel can help translate a corporate identity into shopfronts, fascia panels, kiosks and repeated fit-outs. Keep the approved coated sample with the rollout specification.

Signage, Wayfinding & Display

Match ACP color with vinyl, printing, channel-letter systems and adjacent painted parts. Confirm whether the face will be printed, laminated, routed or left as the exposed finish.

Renovation & Replacement Panels

For an existing building, use a retained or removed panel as a color matching ACP sheet reference. Decide whether the objective is to match the original specification or the currently weathered appearance.

Hospitality & Interior Design

Coordinate custom neutrals, saturated colors or special gloss levels with lighting, stone, glass, timber and furniture. Interior lighting can materially change color perception.

OEM, Distributor & Private Label

Build a controlled color range around local demand, sheet sizes, coating grades, branded protective film, pallet labels and repeat-order codes instead of carrying visually similar untracked shades.

Brand-color rollout control

For Multi-Site Projects, Control the Reference Before You Control the Quantity

Retail, automotive, fuel-station, hospitality and franchise programs often buy the same branded ACP color over multiple phases. A useful program keeps more than a color name: it records the approved sample, coating, gloss, panel build, protective film and order reference.

  • Assign a project color ID linked to RAL/Pantone/physical sample information.
  • Record gloss and metallic or non-metallic character.
  • Keep the same panel construction where visual continuity matters.
  • Separate new-build colors from replacement-match requirements.
  • Identify pallets and mixed-color shipments clearly for site distribution.

Why DERACP

Color Matching Is More Useful When the Same Supplier Can Review the Whole ACP Build

DERACP’s current company information states more than 20 years of ACP manufacturing experience, six production lines and custom-solution capability. For a color project, that background is most useful when it is translated into a clearly documented panel specification, sample approval route, production check and export packing plan.

A

Color + coating coordination

Discuss the color target with PE/PVDF selection, gloss and the actual interior or exterior exposure.

B

Color + structure coordination

Keep thickness, face/back aluminum skin and core attached to the sample approval and purchase specification.

C

Color + size coordination

Plan quantity per color together with sheet width/length, pallet mix, fabrication yield and destination handling.

D

OEM / private-label options

Protective-film printing, labels and packing details can be discussed for distributor and branded supply programs.

E

QC-oriented approval

Use an identified physical reference so appearance checks are tied to an agreed sample rather than subjective screen color.

F

Export planning

Coordinate surface protection, color labels, pallet organization and shipment assumptions around the actual order mix.

Frequently asked questions

Custom Color ACP Panel FAQs

Practical questions from architects, façade contractors, sign makers, retail brands, distributors and project buyers.

Can DERACP manufacture custom RAL ACP panels?
RAL references can be used as the starting color target for a custom ACP order. The final appearance should be confirmed with the selected coating, gloss and an approved physical sample before bulk production. For metallic colors, also record orientation and viewing direction.
Can an aluminum composite panel be matched to a Pantone brand color?
A Pantone reference can be reviewed for brand-color ACP projects. Because Pantone graphics references and coated aluminum surfaces are different media, the approved coated-panel sample should be the practical production reference rather than a monitor or printed chip alone.
Can DERACP match a physical color sample instead of a RAL or Pantone code?
A physical chip, coated metal sample, existing ACP panel or other identified reference can be discussed for color matching. State whether the sample is new or weathered and whether the goal is to match its current appearance or the intended original color.
Should custom color ACP use PE or PVDF coating?
PE is commonly considered for controlled interiors and economical signage, while PVDF is commonly reviewed for exposed exterior cladding. The final coating choice should reflect UV, climate, pollution, coastal conditions, cleaning frequency and project-life expectations.
How should custom ACP colors be approved before mass production?
Define the reference, finish and gloss; confirm the complete panel build; review an identified physical sample under suitable lighting; and retain the approved sample or written reference with the order. This creates a clearer basis for production checks and future repeat orders.
What information should I send for a custom color ACP quotation?
Send the application, color reference, finish and gloss, coating, panel thickness, face/back aluminum skins, core, width, length, quantity by color, protective-film or branding requirements, destination and any project-specific test or documentation requirements.
